This is cool. You should do the text from John Carpenters "The Thing" opening sequence. It's really hard to draw, but if possible to make would be a fun resource ^^

These are awesome!! I love the detail and effects! :w00t:

I was wondering...I've tried downloading a couple of these 'Layer Styles' things (from other providers as well), and haven't been able to get them working with Gimp. Apparently Gimp doesn't understand the file types. Would you be able to offer a substitute for Gimp users, of just PNG versions of the alphabet with each style? Such effects would be really cool to use, but since they are limited to use with Photoshop its sort of disappointing. If not that's totally fine, I'm just asking as it may increase the number of people interested and able to use them :)

Awesome work!!

thanks man I appreciate your feedback and you raised a very good point here. Personally I never used Gimp and I don't really know if it supports this type of Fx. I will work on this software and understand how to create such detailed effects with GIMP.

I don't think Photoshop has real rivals in image processing and graphic design but I've heard many users here on DA asking me for gimp format. Creating the png alphabet is indeed an awesome idea, you really gave me an awesome way to double split my works and help people who are not expert with PS or have other softwares.

:w00t:Awesome!! Gimp is very similar to PS, although its layout and Filters are a little different. It has its pos/neg but for teh most part I find it easier to use than PS. I would happily offer to help you convert them to PNG, If I only had a way to open them.

Happy to help! :)

I downloaded GIMP. after a quick review I've to say is one of the best open source softwares around. Anyway it's really inferior to PS, it's about the 50% less functions and tools, easier to learn though. I tried to open the psd with gimp but the styles are vanished..

I'll probably prepare alphabet letterssoon but don't wait for them I can take ages :D I strongly suggest you to start learning ps is way more easy when you get used to it

thx for your comments and help :)

LOL yes Gimp doesn't really compare to PS in terms of effects or filters, but I do find some of the basic tools and scripts are easier to use (mostly). Gimp doesn't seem to be able to read PSDs properly - any sort of advanced layer (text, actions, styles and masks) comes up either distorted or completely broken.

Of course. I have to learn it anyways to do my projects in Uni - professor won't let us use anything other than PS. I've been gathering tutorials (if you have any suggestions let me know) to get the basics, as my teacher's introduction was rushed and not very organized.

No problem! :)

The only way to learn Photoshop is to look as many tutorials as you can.
the best method is this one: look for a tutorial and try to the same thing the tutorial is explaining, but do it by yourself. You'll probably stop at a certain point, only in that moment watch the tutorial: you'll learn faster and better.

Look for tutorial wich suits your needs, Photoshop has dozens of different uses. good luck with your learning :)
